Introducing: Sub-Accounts

Brass Banking
2 min readAug 16, 2021

You can now create sub-accounts on your Brass web dashboard and assign monthly budgets to each account. Each new account created comes with its own unique account number. Payments created by account managers still follow your company’s set payment approval rule.

How do I create a sub-account?

  • Log in to your Brass account and click on the Account tab on the left side of your dashboard. Click on the blue + button on the lower right hand side of your dashboard.
  • Fill in the necessary information — account alias (only visible to people within your company), manager, monthly budget and hold-off time. You can also decide if you want to allow payments when the monthly budget has been exceeded.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can each account created have a manager?

Yes and payments made by account managers still follow the company’s payment approval rule(s).

  • How do I move money between the accounts?

You can do this on the accounts tab of your dashboard. Select move funds, set the amount and the destination account. The money will be sent automatically, no approvals needed.

  • What are the ways to fund my new sub-account?

You can fund your sub-account like you would your typical Brass account. Through USSD or bank transfer.

  • Can the account alias be changed later on?

An account alias name set can not be changed upon creation of a sub-account

  • Can I create a sub-account with the Brass mobile app?

You currently cannot create a sub-account with the mobile app. This feature is available only on web.
